This time a step back in time to year 1014 and the Battle of Clontarf (currently North-East part of Dublin) when forces of Irish High King Brian Boru clashed with mostly forces led by Máel Mórda mac Murchada consisting mostly of Vikings. Brian Boru won the battle, but didn’t survive to enjoy his victory – got decapitated in his tent while praying after the battle.
Tym razem podróż w czasie do roku 1014 i Bitwy pod Clontarf (obecnie północno-wschodnia część Dublina) gdy siły irlandzkiego arcykróla Briana Boru starły się z wojskami króla Leinsteru Máel Mórda składającymi się głównie z Wikingów. Brian Boru wygrał bitwę, ale nie przeżył na tyle długo by sieszyć się zwycięstwem – został zdekapitowany we własnym namiocie w trakcie odmawiania modlitwy tuż po bitwie.
Viking Festival Clontarf 2012 was organised this year again by friendly crowd from Fingal Living History Society and we took part portraying the Viking side of the conflict. Few photos below:

To be honest, I spent most of the time playing the Irish version of popular game of Hnefatafl called Fitchneal. Little bit about the game, its variants and rules can be found here.
